LET’S REWIND, SHALL WE?

Look, I wasn’t always an expert on educator stress. As a young professional, I let it make me sick. I was an overworking, overthinking perfectionist with constant anxiety and fear. Chronic inflammation developed in my eyes, skin, and gut. I dreaded my morning alarm, and when I wasn’t at work, I rarely stopped thinking about work.

SOMETHING HAD TO CHANGE

Instead of bingeing Netflix or hitting up Happy Hour, I immersed myself in personal growth to find relief. 

  • I learned to meditate.
  • I read dozens of self-help books.
  • I wrote thousands of journal pages.
  • I ate a clean diet.
  • I started a weightlifting routine.
  • I set boundaries at work.
  • I rewired my brain.

Once I nailed self-care practices, something surprising happened. My education career propelled forward. I got promoted, felt more fulfilled in my work, and (the best part) actually enjoyed my life experiences outside of work.

The two are not mutually exclusive. In fact, people at your job and in your life want you to show up as the best version of you.
